Inventory Management in WebSphere Business Compass

A business product is an idea, method, information or object that you offer for sale to a customer. It combines tangible and intangible attributes (benefits, features, functions, uses) that you can provide to the buyer to satisfy their needs and wants. A toothbrush and a pick-up truck are examples of products that can be classified as either consumer or business items. Flour purchased for resale to the public is a consumer item, but flour bought by a bakery to make pastries is a business item.

A non-inventory item is something you sell to a customer, but don’t stock in your inventory and can only deliver when the customer orders it. Examples of made-to-order non-inventory items are a custom kitchen cabinet, or 30 desk chairs that a company buys from a vendor to ship directly to clients who need them for new office setups. Services, like installing a printer or cleaning up a computer network, also can be considered non-inventory items.소자본창업

In the Item Card for a business item, the Type field determines whether the item is a regular or non-inventory item. This can affect the level of detail that is tracked for the item and the ability to use inventory processes with them.

On the Item Card for a business item, you can assign aliases to specific fields in the underlying business object. These aliases will display in WebSphere Business Compass as attributes for the business item.

To create a alias, select the name of the field in the Item Card and then click the Create Alias button in the toolbar. A pop-up window will open, asking you to enter a new text string for the alias. After entering a text string, click OK to save the alias.1인창업

When describing inventory items, you should be functional and not conversational. This will help you optimize the description for later use by your organization’s managers and other professionals. For example, it’s important to describe a piece of equipment as a “computer” instead of a “computer server.” The former will be more useful to your management team, and the latter may confuse them. Also, don’t cram the description with extra words. This can confuse and detract from the usefulness of the description in the future.
